The PCI card is the only card on the motherboard (Asus Maximus Gene VIII, latest BIOS).Įxcept for me it is on and off. I also have Kodi in the Startup menu to start up automatically after signing into Windows. Maybe a driver issue? I am using WASAPI in Kodi. I also found that I can get the sound back in Windows if I sign out and sign back in. Something still is not 100% spot on with the HDMI connection. Also when a device is idle for a while and display turns off there seems to be a glitch with that also. I'm wondering if there's some kind of communication glitch that prevents returning of control to Windows when you exit an app that has taken exclusive control of the sound device. Likely it lost contact with the AVR and my powering the AVR off and on restored the connection. Once I had to turn off the AVR and turn it back on to get the display to come back on. I've also seen when my device sits idle and the screen goes off (per the power option setting), it sometimes does not restore the video on mouse click or other interaction with the device. This is not how it worked using my NUC5i7RYH. No sound in native Windows, even when I run the test in Configure mode under Playback devices for the Denon AVR-S9100W object (sound device). If I open Kodi, control to sound is handed off to app and the sound works fine (while in Kodi).
